This year there will be FIVE separate cosplay competitions: Masquerade- Craftsmanship, Masquerade- Performance, The Lindsay Mascot, Steampunk, and Hallway. To find out more information on these exciting events please visit our Cosplay guidelines.

OHAYOCON Signature Events

When trying to explain to someone what exactly Ohayocon is...I find that it's our unique programming that makes us stand out from the pack!!! We have created events that we want to go to we call those our signature events...these include but are not limited too...

Lolita Crush- Are you a Lolita? Want to learn more about them? Come join us at Lolita Crush, our annual Lolita Tea Party on Saturday morning. The theme this year is a twist on our overall Steampunk theme- Vaudeville Variety. We may even have a few surprises in store, but you will certainly find lots of Lolitas, fun crafts, games, and more.

Pajama Jam- A super fun cosplay Pajama Party. Come as your favorite character or just in your PJs for games and shenanigans and the ever popular “sleepytime cosplay” contest. we will play fun games, gab a while and have a great time before bed (or maybe the rave, whatever)

Parent's Lounge- Are you just here as “Mom” or “Dad”. Do the kids want to pretend they don’t know you? Come on over to our Parent’s Only Lounge in the Drury Hotel lobby (follow the signs or ask at Info Desk). With a quiet space to sit and get out of the chaos, as well as informative panels to help you understand what all this anime stuff is all about, this is the place for you!

Panels And Workshops

Every year we strive to give our attendees the best at-convention experience possible. We pride ourselves in our captivating panels, engaging meet-ups, informative workshops, and the most interesting round table discussions in the community. Though we (Ohayocon Staff) host these events we can't take all the credit; really it's all thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers known as "panelists" for bringing Ohyaocon alive, and for that we must extend our heartfelt thanks!

As a side note, please understand that you will need to be flexible on when your panel is scheduled throughout the conveniton. We have over 350 hours of programming that has to be juggled and we want everyone to have the perfect time for thier event. This takes time and flexibility on everyone's part.

We are currently gearing up for looking for new and exciting panels in the areas of:

• Children's Programming
• Anime/ Manga Series
• Video/ Table Top Games
• Art
• Japanese Culture
• Cosplay
• Dance/ Movement (ParaPara, Martial Arts, etc.)
  
• Workshops on cool, fun things!
• Plus our theme for 2014 - Magical Girls!!!!

Ohayocon’s Video Programming Department

Ohayocon’s Video Department strives to provide a safe and relaxing space for all of the convention’s attendees.  It is our goal to provide a large variety of anime and films, reflecting the vast spectrum of media produced from Japan.  There are a total of 4 rooms that are entirely devoted to Video Programming, 2 of which operate continuously for 24 hours during the 3 days of the convention.

There are many exciting things to keep a look out for in the video schedule.  When Ohayocon embraces a theme, so too does the video schedule!  There will be many different titles that reflect that year’s theme. There will be some old school titles, some new school, and some that fall in between.  There will also be a designated block called the “Kidz Zone”.  This is a special block of time set aside featuring all ages programming so that even the littlest otaku and their parents can enjoy themselves together.  And for the late night block, there will be a marathon of live-action Japanese B movies.  These are for the older adult crowd that want to watch something a little bit different, are in the mood for a good laugh from cheesy cinema, or are simply not interested in that “other” kind of adult programming.

If you can’t find anything you like at the convention, come check out what the Video Department has on the schedule!  There’s a little bit of something for everyone.

Gaming

Great things are afoot in the basement of Ohayocon 14. We have for your gaming pleasure or if you just want to see a magical girls play in a video game tournament transform, pose and get yourself downstairs for an awesome gaming experience. Our rooms are packed with the best in gaming(that would be our staff)and the systems are pretty awesome as well. We offer console gaming, Rhythm and Dance, Retro, Lan Events, Pen and Paper, Board Games and so much more. (Located in the dead presidents hallway near registration)

**We added some amazing improvements from 2012- We added 25 more consoles, expanded our Board Games and Added Shadowrun to our pen and paper line up.

Cosplay Competition

A laugh riot of skits and costumes all by those bravest of souls- Cosplayers. Only the best performances will stand before you, who will take the top prize? Featuring the annual Craftsmanship Cosplay Fashion Show and special performances by past winners and our talented emcees!
